This refers to Aijaz Zaka Syed’s article, “Indian Muslims: Pawns in Indo-Pak game,” (Feb. 1). Let me start with the author’s concluding remarks, “Indeed, if Pakistan really cares for India’s Muslims, it should leave them to their own fate.
Its voluble concern, whenever articulated for whatever reason, has only added to the community's woes. Truth be told, both India and Pakistan have let down their minorities and are in no position to lecture each other on the issue.” If India has the Shiv Sena and the RSS, and we have Hafiz Saeed and others.
It equals the odds. Doesn’t he think that Shahrukh Khan's controversy has changed the tide of the border skirmishes to other direction? I assure him all these internal problems of Pakistan would be resolved all at once, if Pakistan and India declare a war.
India as yet has never accepted Pakistan and we try to show them our presence. Shahrukh Khan's Muslim identity is never accepted by Indian Muslims either because of his Hindu wife and all the deities or temples at his home. For that land which he has never visited, he should not be blamed and rebuked. Thanks for his great input! — Abida Rahmani, By e-mail
