The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO), approved the Prince Salman Hospital in Riyadh as a “child friendly hospital.”
Ahmad Za’aqi, director of public relations and media at the hospital, said the hospital was honored with this title after being officially approved.
Za’aqi said that honoring the hospital is part of the plan of the Directorate General of Nutrition at the Ministry of Health to activate a program promoting breast feeding.
The achievement, he said, came after the hospital applied and implemented the 10 internationally established standard steps for the initiative of “child friendly hospitals.” The hospitals should be successful in implementing a program to promote breast-feeding of children.
The required steps are issued and approved by the UNICEF and WHO in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Health.
Prince Salman Hospital now links with another 27 hospitals and 24 health centers in Saudi Arabia. It was awarded the shield of child friendliness as a result of its outstanding performance in this regard.
