Rabya wins opener; Saudia Catering, Gharib notch third place

JEDDAH: Viagra Naghi of Reggie Santos beat Jeddah Marriott Hotel 63-57 in the JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at Bin Mafouz court on Tahlia Street, Al Andalus District here.
Both teams played good defense in the whole game. Marriott Hotel missed important free throws in the dying seconds. Samson scored 19 points for Viagra and was adjudged as the Giordano Best Player of the game while Alberto Bandiolla top-scored with 17 points for Marriott.

Rabya took the rebound and sealed Game 1 of the Group B championship series. Ramirez had 13 points for Rabya and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Junar Manila and Deleon each scored 10 points for Saudi Diyar.
Saudia Catering of coach Macron Maycacayan beat MODA 89-62 for third place in Group C Division. Saudia Catering dominated the shaded area in the final quarter. Tamondong led Saudia Catering with 25 points and was adjudged as the Arab News Best Player of the game while Borceque top-scored with 21 points for MODA.
Erfan Hospital of Dr. Ahmed Erfan defeated Jeddah Dawa Center 67-48 in Game 1 of the best-of-three championship series. JDC missed the services of their import with injury. Arwin Ochavillo had 13 points for Erfan Hospital and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Jameel and Abdulrahman each scored 9 points for JDC.
Thursday, Fuddruckers of Elmer delos Santos beat Tike Restaurant 93-60.
Fuddruckers unleashed its offensive power in the final quarter. Tike simply lost steam and missed important baskets. Ernell Padua scored 21 points for Fuddruckers and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Adonas scored a career-high 35 points for Tike Restaurant.
Chili’s Restaurant of Hosam El Nabusi defeated United Naghi 74-69. Chili’s Restaurant displayed great resolve in the dying seconds as United Naghi desperately attacked its defense. Flavier top-scored with 15 points for Chili’s and was adjudged as the Saudi Sign best player while Joebert Recayo scored 19 points for United Naghi.
Mahmoud Gharib won third place in Group A division by default over STC Terabytes.
Nissan GTR of Francis Gallego beat Al Muhaidib 75-71 to advance to the Group A championship series.
GTR Nissan almost collapsed in the crucial seconds. Al Muhaidib tried a desperation 3-pointer but the ball bounced off the rim and went out. EJ displayed his shooting skills and scored 17 points for GTR Nissan and was adjudged as JBL best player while Pablo Viscayno led Al Muhaidib with 15 points.
