Riyadh’s Bangladeshi community reminded to abide by Saudi laws

Bangladeshi Ambassador Mohamed Shahidul Islam reminded Bangladeshis living in Saudi Arabia on Saturday to respect the Kingdom’s laws to project a better image of the country and to avoid getting into serious trouble.
He called on the Bangladeshi diaspora to refrain from violence, group clashes and any kind of illegal activity.
He added: “It is thanks to Allah that relations between the Kingdom and Bangladesh remained intact despite some problems and this is evident from the statements of Prince Saud Al-Faisal, foreign minister, who had applauded the efforts of our security agencies in arresting the killers of a Saudi diplomat."
He was speaking at an iftar party hosted by Biman (Bangladesh Airlines) in Riyadh on Saturday evening. Prominent among the guests were Abdul Rahman Al-Howaish, finance director of General Authority of Civil Aviation; Miznur Rahman, commercial officer; Brig. A. T. M. Waheeduzzaman, military attache; Naser Al-Ogaifi, deputy general manager of Saudia Ground Services; Fahad Al-Mulahim of Saudia catering; Mohd Saud Al-Jomaiah, regional director of ACE Travel; and Ashfaq A. Ahmed, ACE Travel general manager.
Referring to the progressively growing relations between Riyadh and Dhaka, Islam advised community members to work in unison for the betterment of the country and their families.
The advice by the envoy was prompted by group clashes among Bangladeshi workers in Riyadh early last month in which two workers were murdered. This ugly scene was preceded by the murder of a Saudi diplomat in Dhaka earlier this year.
