SABB Advance scores double in Interbank Bowling League opener

The excitement has hardly died down over the fun tournament/awarding ceremony for last year’s winners led by PNB Unified and yet the ITBR (Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh) plunged back into action for the 2012 tournament with SABB Avance of Art Capulong completing a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.
In an early show of force SABB Advance scored staggering 505-60 victory over defending champion PNB. The outstanding performance by newly structured SABB produced a towering overall team series handicap of 3,918 pinfalls to emerge the best after the first week of hostilities.
Jaffer A Kathiri completed a SABB Advance double when he rolled the high series of 858. SABB’s new team line-up include Gerry Austria, Arnold Jesena, Ahmed Qarqoush and Sam Alinsod.
The PNB Unified foursome of Carlo Gaspar, Mixi Lechuga, James Frizzle and Jun Evangelista scored impressive four-game series handicap of 746, 718, 696 and 677. They were supported by Edwin Nunez and Tenz Taeza.
In other matches, the match between Saudi Hollandi Bank and SABB-SAMA ended in a draw (130-all), BSF demolished SAIB (290-0), Alinma-Asphire thrashed BSF-CBG (180-80) while Alinma-Tefal playing as the bye team scored 50 points.
A week before the opening of this year’s event, ITBR held a fun game and awarding ceremony for last year’s winners.
The champion, runners-up and special awardees received handsome trophies and cash prizes during the awards night. Major donors for weekly prizes were Saudi Telecom Company through Eden Bergonio and Mounir Melliti, recreation manager, Riyadh InterContinental Hotel.
