SABB Advance shines in Etihad Airways Bowling League

SABB Advance transformed into a serious contender overnight, giving an ominous notice to the rest of the participants with a convincing perfect score win (22 to 8) over Thrill Seekers in Week 4 of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR)-Etihad Airways Tuesday Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
It was the fourth consecutive win of SABB which now occupies second spot in the team standings just two points behind league leader NBA. Pacing the lane supremacy for SABB was Francis Guron with a series of 876, with contributions from Ian Choco (812), Arnold Jesena (812), Jess Ambon (533), Jojo Paciano (451) and Atoi Ramos (386). SABB also pocketed the Team of the Week honors.
NBA achieved a similar perfect score feat in beating PinPals 22-8 but missed the team award by just two pins. NBA, however, kept its hold at the top of the standings.
In other matches, Pin Hitters defeated Vinnell Arabia 11-9, Mandirigma II upset favorite Unica 12-10, defending champion Majestic (formerly Aces) continued to struggle as it suffered another 15-13 loss to Habagat, Saco Bolts won over Yaris X 16-11 and Ayaw Na kept pace with the leaders beating Lane Cruiser 15-6.
Neophyte bowler Glenmar Dela Cruz (Yaris X) bagged the Bowler of the Week award with 4-game series of 937 together with Nina De Vera of team NBA (834 series).
Ace bowler Ronald Bautista maintained his lead in the MVP race Group 1 with an average of 231.17 followed by Joe Garrido (223.42) and Ernee Noto (223.38). In the Group 2 MVP race Shawn Rickets also kept his lead with an average of 192.83 followed by Fathi Abdulaziz (190.50) and Nelson De Vera (189.75).
The league’s main sponsor is Etihad Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the Middle East, which will donate three return air tickets to Manila to the top individual achievers at the end of the league.
The league management team is composed of Cesar De Mesa, Armin Isles, Dennis Durens, Ian Choco, Ruby Urrutia, Jim Dela Rosa, Art Palustre, Pau Feria, Torres and Noto.
