Visitors to the 7th Shabab Alkhobar (Alkhobar Youth) Forum will be treated to an impressive display of the abilities of special needs people when a special needs person parachutes down to the event. The parachutist will be landing at the site seated on a “special chair” while thousands of visitors to the Alkhobar seafront look on.
“This is one of the many surprises that we have planned for the 10-day event that began on Feb. 6,” said Dr. Saleh Al-Yousef, chief of the Offices of Call and Guidance in the Eastern Province.
“The idea is to emphasis the capabilities and talents of people with special needs, and to integrate them into the community without limiting their ambitions and achievements,” he said.
Al-Yousef said that the forum will be open to men for 10 days and to women for five days.
The main aim of the forum is to connect young men to the nation and to emphasize national unity.
“We work through this forum to strengthen the relationship with each other. Homeland is for all, as always emphasized by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah,” he said. “The forum is for all … We open our doors and our hearts to be a model for other forums in the Kingdom.”
According to Director of “Hedayah” and the general supervisor of the forum, Sheikh Jumaah Al-Rumaihi, the forum is creating opportunities for people with special needs this year. There will be a special tent with special programs. Ibrahim Ghwaizi, the head of the forum’s media committee, said the forum will include a lot of programs and events aimed at the needs and desires of young people, where will be official sectors offering a lot of volunteer opportunities and projects for young people to use their time, and activate their role in society.
