The government's expansionary national budget confirms that the Saudi economy is solid and continues to grow, according to Professor Osama S. Tayyeb, President of King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah.
In an exclusive statement to Arab News on Tuesday, the top academic added that the country's prudent fiscal policies, under the astute leadership of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, has helped it to withstand the shocks of the recent global financial crisis.
Tayyeb said that the Kingdom’s economic boom, stability and security can be attributed to sensible policies based on Islam. He said government was constantly working to improve the country’s infrastructure to meet the needs of the Saudi population.
Tayyeb said that the government has allocated over SR 5 billion to King Abdulaziz University (KAU). The funds will be used to develop the educational process as a whole, increase the student intake, improve the learning environment and expand community services.
He thanked King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz for their commitment to education and development in the country.
