Defense Minister and Chairman of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) Prince Salman on Saturday presided over a Darah board meeting.
Following the meeting, Darah Secretary-General Fahad Al-Sammari said the meeting approved the establishment of a specialized center documenting the social history of the Kingdom in a scientific way.
The meeting was briefed on cooperation between Darah and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) related to the documentation of historical palaces and sites in the Kingdom in addition to a similar cooperation initiative with arts and cultural clubs to conduct cultural conferences and workshops, Al-Sammari said.
The meeting also approved the establishment of a science and technology unit within Darah assigned to supervise e-activities in line with the National Plan on Science and Technology.
The meeting was briefed on the recommendations of the 5th Gulf-Maghreb Conference held in Tlemcen, Algeria, on the strengthening of educational and scientific relations between the two groups.
It was also briefed on the Council of Ministers’ approval of the memorandum of understanding between Darah and Byrouni Institute for Occidental Studies, Uzbekistan.
