Najran Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah made surprise visits to a number of government offices and institutions in the region on Wednesday.
The inspection tour was aimed at getting first hand information about their functioning and evaluate the level of their performance while extending services to the citizens.
The visits covered several facilities, including Najran municipality, general department for agricultural affairs, labor office, department for the affairs of the Empty Quarter (Rub Al-Khali), Najran general hospital, Aba Al-Saud town center, and Aba Al-Saud police station.
During the visit, Prince Mishaal personally inspected the functioning of each office and met with senior officials and employees of each department. He also spoke with several citizens who were at these offices on official business.
The governor listened to their grievances and entertained their suggestions with regard to improving the quality of services being extended by various government departments and agencies.
Speaking to reporters after the tour, Prince Mishaal warned the officials against shutting the doors on the public. The governor said that he will continue the visits in future with the objective of ensuring the best quality of services to the citizens and improving the performance of various government departments and agencies.
“Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah always asks about the welfare of citizens, especially what we are doing to extend them the best possible services, in addition to the progress of development projects that are under various phases of implementation in the region.
“This puts heavy responsibility on my shoulders and hence I am striving to closely follow up on the condition of people in order to fulfill the aspirations of our leaders,” the governor said, adding that he is sincerely exerting efforts to solve any shortcomings in the service to the people.
Replying to questions about dereliction of duty on the part of any offices or officials, Prince Mishaal said: “I have noticed something (in this regard) and am working to address them. I see it is inappropriate to share them with the media and get them published, as the significant thing is to find out about the shortcomings and to act quickly to address them.” The governor expressed his happiness over the outcome of the visit as it helped him to have close interaction with citizens and know their suggestions and opinions with regard to improving the services being offered to them.
