Economic analysis and building professional report workshops will be held on the eve of the Second Gulf Economic Media Forum (GEMF-2013) organized by the Eastern Province.
The event will take place on Feb. 13 in the Eastern Province in partnership with the Dar Alyaum Publishing House (DAPH) and the Federation of GCC Chambers.
The event, with the participation of GCC states media officials, journalists, experts, economists, specialists and those concerned with the economic media, will concentrate on a wide range of issues and topics.
Topics include the global economic transformation and the Gulf media’s ability to keep up with them, social media, the conflict with print media and factors that erode trust among development parties and media institutions.
DAPH’s director-general, Saleh Ali Al-Humaidan said that the training workshop seeks to improve expertise and economic editors’ skills in various newspapers in the Eastern region in particular, and economic editors of various media in general.
“The workshop is the second of its kind within the activities of the forum, and for the second session in a row,” said Al-Humaidan. He noted that it is the first forum in the year that will witness such an event.
Ihsan Ali Bu-Hulaiga, a former Shoura member and chairman of Joatha Center for Investment, will give the training. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Supreme Council for the Cooperation Council.
Workshop themes include analysis of the financial statements, the form and content of economic reports, the study of practical cases of economic reports from the local and foreign press, building economic report and practical applications.
The GMEF 2013 will be held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture and Information Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja
with participation of newspaper editors in the GCC.
The forum will be held as part of a strategy aimed to highlight the importance of economic information at the level of the GCC countries.
It seeks to achieve its mission to contribute to economic media in GCC by highlighting the efforts of the public and private sectors and promote sustainable development in the GCC.
