EP launches e-licensing service

The Eastern Province Municipality has launched an electronic licensing service at "service offices" that act on behalf of citizens under agreement with a number of service offices.
Affiliate offices can submit applications and follow up on procedures for the issuance of licenses for citizens. The actual duration of the issuance process for professional licenses has been initially timed at between 3 and 5 minutes. The time it takes for a final license to be issued depends on the time it takes to process payment and ready the shop.
The municipality's e-transformation project began in the first phase to develop the municipality portal, providing news and information related to the procedures and requirements for licenses to be made available to citizens throughout the day.
In addition, the issuance of health certificates will provide the employer with the possibility of issuing and renewing health certificates for his employees and following up first-hand on expiry dates.
Muhammad Al-Suffaian, Eastern Province general manager of public relations and media, said that service offices will save everyone's time and speed up work as citizens will no longer need to visit the municipality building for transacting business.
People can also inquire about their business via mobile phone text messages.
