The International Indian School in Jeddah is facing pressure from Indian community to accommodate their children into classes although school has limited seats for new intake.
Admissions for new academic year began through a lottery draw system, which was concluded on Friday. However, the majority of applicants couldn’t find their luck in the draw.
Dashing further hopes, school administrators informed parents yesterday that there were no seats available from grades 2 to 12 with existing students promotions to next higher classes. Administrators said that with the present circumstances it was not possible to grant admissions for new students into classes.
However, officials are making efforts to maintain a waiting list, which will be prepared on the basis of another lottery draw.
The request for inclusion in the waiting list can be submitted through the school’s website www.iisjed.com from Sunday to March 1. The lottery will held on March 7 at the school.
Last Thursday’s draw was for 466 seats of LKG. The school had received 1,367 applications through the online system. Among available LKG seats, 233 were reserved for boys with the remaining half reserved for girls. Another draw for UKG was held on Friday for 194 seats of UKG where over 700 applicants were sought.
Two years ago the school commissioned a new section of KG in Al-Rehab district where it was able to meet the growing demand for KG. But the school has been struggling with the surging demand ever since.
