Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed at Pakistan International School Jeddah (PISJ-ES) yesterday to highlight the cause of Kashmir and the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The objective of the event was to highlight the day, solidarity of Pakistani nation with brothers and sisters of Jammu and Kashmir and create awareness among students about Kashmir issue and important role of OIC, which is a strong Muslim forum.
The students of PISJ-ES in a studio setting also presented a special model meeting session of the OIC to highlight the issue and role of OIC and Muslim countries in the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Auditorium.
Senator Sehar Kamran, principal of PISJ-ES, welcomed the chief guest Ambassador Ezzat Kamel Mufti, the former special representative of OIC secretary general of Jammu and Kashmir, guests of honor Aftab Ahmed Khokar, the newly appointed consul general of Pakistan and Tariq Mishkhas, managing editor Urdu News, Fikret Ozet, Turkish consul general, dignitaries, parents, students and teachers.
Kamran also congratulated Prince Muqrain bin Abdulaziz on his appointment as a second deputy premier.
“The struggle in Kashmir is all about the right of Kashmiri people to self-determination, today we are gathered to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters, to support their right of self determination,” she said.
She also said OIC’s aim is to preserve Islamic social economic values; promote solidarity among member states; increase cooperation in social, economic, cultural, scientific and political areas; uphold international peace and security; and advance education particularly in the fields of science and technology.
She further said that she hoped the special session of OIC Model Meeting at PISJ will send a strong message about the significance of this important forum.
Model meeting of OIC where the students represented some of the OIC member states as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Turkey, Niger, Kuwait, Morocco, Bahrain, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Iran and representatives of United Nations and Kashmir.
