Fuel tanker blast kills welder

A Bangladeshi expatriate died in a fuel tank blast that was caused by a spark from a welding machine in his workshop in north Jeddah on Sunday.
The impact of the blast was so violent that the expat was blown onto the rooftop of a neighboring workshop eight meters away, said Col. Saeed Sarhan, Makkah Civil Defense spokesman, in a statement late Sunday.
The worker was repairing the fuel tanker when the spark from the welding machine sent it into flames, according to Civil Defense officials.
Another worker was injured in the incident.
“The welder was working on the upper side of fuel tanker when the explosion occurred,” he said.
“The worker’s body parts were removed from the rooftop by Civil Defense teams. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.”
