Saudi student in US faces murder charges on death of classmate

A US prosecutor in Cookeville, Tennessee, has leveled murder charges against a Saudi scholarship student, Marwan Hinnawi, 20, for deliberately knocking down his fellow scholarship student Mohamed Badi, 22, Sabq.com online paper said.
Badi reportedly died early last Saturday as a result of injuries sustained from being knocked down by Hinnawi’s car, local authorities in the city said in a report. Authorities have refused to set him free on bail, the paper said.
The Cookeville police had earlier received a notification of the incident from some eyewitnesses. An ambulance and police were dispatched to the scene immediately where they found the deceased in critical condition. They rushed him to a hospital but Badi succumbed to his injuries and died two hours later.
According to the paper, Hinnawi was in deep shock following the accident.
Based on eyewitness accounts, the authorities said that the incident was a murder case, which was then referred to Putnam County court, the paper said.
Badi was studying for a degree in Financial Management at Tennessee Technological University and had only a year to go before completing graduation, according to the paper.
