The eighth Alkhobar Youth Forum kicked off here on Thursday with a local rally driver expected to give young people tips on driving safely on the country’s roads.
A tent has been set up by Yazeed Al-Rajhi, the driver, to provide guidance for youngsters, said Abdul Rahman Al-Qarni, executive director of the forum.
He said that car accidents have resulted in severe social and economic problems for individuals, families and the government. It costs the country nearly SR21 billion annually, he said.
Al-Qarni said that the program is being sponsored and supported by many private companies. “Such programs are of immense help to the community and especially young people.”
“We have seminars, training courses, Islamic lectures, sporting events, heritage shows, programs for children and quiz competitions.”
Saleh Al-Yousef, chief of the local Islamic propagation office, praised the government for setting up events to help people. He said the people support the country’s leadership, as shown recently by their pledge of allegiance to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
During a press conference, Al-Yousef said that the forum would include completely new events. It would be open to men for 10 days and women for four days at the Alkhobar Corniche.
The events will be held in a tent that can accommodate nearly 3,000 people. There would also be a sports tent to accommodate more than 500 people, equipped with video games and screenings of football and other sports.
