The Indian Embassy has promised to take all possible steps to resolve the problems of hundreds of stranded Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia, including the case of 24 trapped workers in Jubail.
“The Indian mission sent its officer to Jubail twice to study the case,” said Hemant Kotalwar, deputy chief of Indian mission, on Thursday. “Many other cases are also being looked into.”
Kotalwar said the embassy was closely following the developments after the labor court in Dammam admitted the case of Jubail workers. He, however, said that the court will eventually decide the future course of action in the case. “I am quite hopeful that the workers will be repatriated to India soon,” he said.
The case of these 24 Indian expatriates, who were duped and blackmailed by the recruitment agents in India and the sponsor/contractor in Saudi Arabia, has been widely reported in local and Indian media. These workers arrived in the Kingdom about a year back.
