RIYADH: To cope with the growing number of applicants (boys and girls) at technical colleges that reached 126,023 last year, a state-run organization launched an online unified portal to ease the enrolment procedures.
According to the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) spokesman Fahd Al-Otaibi , there was a 26 percent increase in admissions last year at various colleges and technical institutes across the country.
“The new portal for admission and registration is one of the TVTC’s efforts to facilitate access to the training program. This includes all information about the programs and admission requirements,” Al-Otaibi added.
Al-Otaibi said: "Creating an unified portal comes at a time when the demand for technical and vocational training programs is increasing.”
He said the number of applicants at 36 institutes for boys alone last year was 97,666 of whom 38,736 were admitted because of the limited capacity of the colleges.
While the number of girl applicants stood at 28,357 and 4,211 were accepted at 18 colleges. Some 60,000 have applied in 14 global schools for boys last year, while only about 7,387 were admitted for the same reason. He said 82,000 girls have applied at 19 global women's colleges and 8,185 were accepted.
