JEDDAH: Saif Al-Ghamdi, the citizen who was reportedly kicked out of the office by the Undersecretary for Construction at the Taif Municipality, died in a traffic accident on Wednesday, local media reported. This comes at a time when his case is still under investigation.
The Taif municipality has investigating a video clip, in which Mohammed Al-Faye, the undersecretary at the municipality, is seen kicking Al-Ghamdi out of his office after getting into an argument over his request for an update on the status of his construction license.
He had filed the application with the municipality two years ago.
The short video clip went viral on social networking sites, and shows a heated argument between Al-Faye and Al-Ghamdi. At one point, Al-Faye loses his temper and yells at Al-Ghamdi to get out of his office.
Al-Ghamdi, in an interview to a local newspaper a day before his death, revealed the complications and suffering he experienced to obtain a building permit. He said he applied two years ago but still hasnt received the license, despite visiting several departments to inquire.
According to the spokesman of the Taif Municipality, Ismail Ibrahim, the events in the video clip will be investigated thoroughly and necessary measures will be taken in light of the outcome of the investigation. He said the municipality is always on the side of the citizen and aims to ensure all rights of all parties are protected.
