Father, son rescued from school tank

JEDDAH: The Jeddah governorate has launched an investigation into how a 5-year-old boy fell into a water tank at a primary school here.

The probe was launched by Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majeed into the incident at the school for the memorization of the Qur’an. The father of the child had jumped into the tank to save his son, and then had to be pulled out by the Civil Defense.
Col. Saeed Al-Sarhan, spokesman of the Civil Defense in Makkah, said that a report had been received at 10:36 a.m. on Monday about the incident. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the boy and his father in the tank. Both were pulled out and are in good health, he said.
Al-Sarhan said that the father had arrived at the school with his son, who is in the facility’s kindergarten section. The boy had wanted to meet his mother and passed the water tank, which had been opened for a refill. It was at that stage that he fell in.
