JIF stresses youth innovation and national transformation

JEDDAH: The sixth edition of Jeddah Industrial Forum under the patronage of Makkah Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal which will open on April 20 announced the adoption of an innovative youth and a national transformation program as topics at the forum, it said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Ibrahim Batterjee, chairman of the industrial committee of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) also announced the biggest contest for innovative ideas for industrial and nonindustrial sector and success and establishment of small- and medium-scale industries.
He said the forum’s main aim is to achieve the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz for a robust industrial sector that can contribute to the national economy and will discuss the contribution of the industrial sector in the national strategy for national transition.
Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah will be the keynote speaker of the JIF under the theme “National Transition Toward an Industrial Transformation,” that will be attended by several top industrialists and businessmen.
The press conference was also attended by Sheikh Fahad bin Siban Al-Salami, member of the Board of Directors, Adnan bin Hussein Mandorah, the Secretary General of JCCI, Eng. Muhyiddin Bin Yahya Hakami, Deputy Secretary General JCCI, Ulfat bint Mohammed Kabani, president of the forum and Dr. Rashid bin Zomaha, member of Industrial Committee and the main sponsor of the forum.
Sheikh Fahad bin Siban Al-Salami said the Kingdom will be the first industrial state in the region because of its significant human and material potential, and the agreement to establish a bridge between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the establishment of an industrial city in the Sinai will contribute in strengthening the capacity of the Kingdom to help boost its industrial sector.
Mandorah said that JCCI is collaborating with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Makkah Governorate, business and technology universities, and organization of the Arab Excellence for organizing the forum.
He explained that it will be a gathering of industrialists and stakeholders in order to strengthen the role of the industrial sector and the service in the national economy.
The forum aims to highlight the role of the industrial sector in the national transformation and activating the partnership between the public and private sectors to enable industry sectors, as well as to highlight the national strategy for the industry in the area of diversification, promote economic diversification and development of the industrial sector.
He said also to encourage the youth to adopt innovative and pilot projects, and define the role of the Jeddah Chamber in industrial growth and its contribution to support the economic stability, contribute in the productivity of the Kingdom, achieve the goal of development and increase job opportunities for citizens.
Kabbani said with this forum they are planning to develop the industry of cars, household appliances, plastics, packaging, metals and metal processing, solar energy for the coming years 2015-2019.

Saudi minister of foreign affairs receives US envoy to Riyadh

  • US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John Abizaid visited Adel Al-Jubeir on Monday

RIYADH: US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John Abizaid called on Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir on Monday. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and discussed issues of mutual interest.

Al-Jubeir also held a separate meeting with a delegation of the US EastWest Institute, which was led by John Hurley. During the meeting, which was attended by a number of officials, they reviewed historical Saudi-US ties and the Kingdom’s stances on different regional and international issues.
