JEDDAH: All non-Haj government offices are to be moved outside the holy sites of Makkah.
Bandar Hajar, minister of Haj, said the relocation of the offices would allow for accommodation of an additional 280,000 pilgrims.
During his visit to Makkah, the minister inspected a number of pilgrim welcome centers and met with the Iranian Tawafa association to review their plans to receive Iranian pilgrims this year.
He said his ministry is working with the Ministry of Transportation to make use of the new highway connecting Briman with Jamom Road.
He anticipates the highway will be completed soon and will shorten the travel time for pilgrims coming from the King Abdullah Aziz International Airport in Jeddah.
