RIYADH: Prince Sattam, governor of Riyadh region and chairman of the area council, chaired the third council meeting of the year 2011-2012 in the presence of Prince Mohammed bin Saad, deputy governor of Riyadh region and vice president of the council at the Justice palace building.
Secretary-General of the area council Suleiman bin Mohammed Al-Qannas explained that the council reviewed the reports of the standing committees aimed at improving education and health services, economic and service facilities and it took necessary decisions.
Prince Sattam also chairs the ministerial committee that oversees the implementation of the draft public transport project “tram and bus.” He explained that the technical committee for the development of operational steps was to begin immediate enforcement of the project at full stages, in accordance with the time limit of four years that had been set by the Council of Ministers.
He announced the start of the shortlisting of international companies specialized in manufacturing of trains and control systems.
Members of the council expressed their gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for the approval of this vital project. It will address the important problem of traffic congestion in the city of Riyadh and will provide service to citizens and residents.
The board reviewed the regional plans of the Higher Commission for the Development of the City of Riyadh. These should bring solutions to development issues in the region and guide the development process according to scientific programs and future directions for all sectors of development.
The board agreed on the programs of this scheme and felt confident it would lead to a quantum leap in the organization and arrangement of development plans for Riyadh and the provinces associated with it.
