The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh conducted a consular outreach mission to Filipinos in Yemen, Dec. 21-24.
Led by Vice Consul Paulo V. Saret, the embassy consular mission was held at the Movenpick Hotel in Sana’a. He was assisted by The Filipino Community in Yemen (TFCY) officers that included TFCY President Estelita Gahlan, Auditor Marilou Espanola and Counselor Neil Solomon.
The team was able to encode 131 e-passport applications and rendered other consular services, including recording of report of birth (8), issuance of travel documents (3) and notarization of documents (2). Filipinos from all over Yemen, including the cities of Sana’a, Aden, Taiz, Hudeidah, Hajah and Saadah, availed of the consular services.
Since last year’s political unrest in Yemen, there has been no consular outreach mission conducted in Yemen except for passports' extensions granted by the Crisis Management Team who were deployed in the country until last May.
Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago thanked the TFCY for the assistance in disseminating the notice on the consular outreach mission as well as helping out in the actual rendering of consular services.
The next consular outreach mission in Yemen is tentatively scheduled on Oct. 3-4.
