Detectives arrested Monday a Saudi youth who killed a school boy in Riyadh’s Naseem district in early February, a police statement said.
“A youth in his 20s killed a 16-year-old boy and buried the body at a desert location in the northeast of the city,” the statement said.
Riyadh police started investigations after a Saudi parent complained to Al-Khaleej police station that his son did not return home from school in the Nahda district on Feb. 2, Al-Hayat daily reported on yesterday.
“The police set up a team of highly skilled investigators to solve the mystery surrounding the boys disappearance,” the statement said, adding that the boy’s car was found abandoned near the school.
Supported by strong evidence, the team arrested the alleged killer even though he initially denied committing the crime.
However, later he confessed that he was motivated to kill the boy following an old quarrel between them. The suspect persuaded the boy to get in his car and then drove to a deserted location. They again quarreled and the youth took out a knife and allegedly stabbed the boy to death. Then he buried the boy and returned home, the suspect told the investigators. He also led the investigators to the location where he had buried the body.
