The Royal College of Canada has announced plans to establish a branch in Riyadh to intensify health cooperation between Canada and Saudi Arabia, Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said in Riyadh yesterday.
Al-Rabeeah made this statement during the inauguration of the first international conference organized by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, SCFHS.
The minister, who is also the chairman of Board of Trustees of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, said such an institute would help the Kingdom in its training programs and in exchanging expertise with experts from the college.
The minister described the new venture as a symbol of mutual cooperation and friendship between the Kingdom and Canada.
He said the Kingdom is keen on training and development of national cadres in various medical fields through SCFHS in all parts of the Kingdom.
He said that the health programs are being extended within the framework of the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.
The minister said Saudi Arabia offers the most post-employment training in health field than any of the other GCC countries.
He said SCFHS plays a predominant role in the health sector ensuring quality health care services to the people. The certificates produced by foreign medics and paramedics are carefully filtered by SCFHS to ensure that they are authentic. Even the new recruits to the Kingdom are given practical tests to ensure they occupy proper positions in the medical sector.
