A specially designed and colorful tourist bus has become a major tourist attraction at this year’s garden and plant festival in Jubail.
Tourists are taken on a sightseeing tour in which they visit the major landmarks in the city. They are then brought back to the festival site.
The green-colored bus has become a landmark and festival organizers are receiving bouquets for having thought up the idea.
“The sightseeing tour is free for all those visiting the festival and it aims to showcase and educate the tourists about prominent landmarks and large-scale projects in the Jubail Industrial City,” said Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Meserey, the chief supervisor at the festival.
The 10-day festival was inaugurated on Feb. 20. This is the 15th such annual festival. It is being held at the popular and pristine Al-Fanateer beach.
“Government agencies, universities, agricultural institutions and companies specializing in landscaping, gardening and beautification are taking part in the festival,” said Al-Meserey.
“Through this festival, we are trying inculcate a sense of belonging in nature among children, adult and all members of society with a view of maintaining hygiene, protecting and safeguarding public property and promoting tourism,” Al-Meserey said.
Abdullah Al-Khalidi, one of the many visitors to the colorful festival, said he found the event to be of extreme importance. “I came here with my family and we identified many different types of flowers and plants,” he said. “The services are excellent with plenty of games and recreational activities for children.”
Another visitor, Nasser Al-Eissa, signed a contract with one of the gardening companies at the festival to revamp his personal garden. “This festival is a source of entertainment,” he said. “We walk among these flowers and enjoy nature’s beauty.”
