Thermal insulation a must for new buildings

All new buildings should have thermal insulation systems built in, said the Ministry of Water and Electricity. This new regulation will be implemented first in Riyadh from Feb. 11, after which it will be rolled out to other cities in the Kingdom.
During a panel discussion between the ministry and engineering and consulting offices, contractors and thermal insulation manufacturers and suppliers, the builders were asked to comply with the terms and conditions in the guidance manual as published on the websites of the ministry and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
The ministry would not issue building licenses for new buildings after Feb. 11, unless the installation of thermal insulators had been ascertained through field visits.
Qualified technicians would carry out these checks during various stages of construction.
