A visiting Turkish dignitary has commended the ongoing Mataf Expansion Project undertaken at the order of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in Nov. last year.
The expansion of the circumambulation area around the Kaaba, which aims to enhance the space to accommodate 150,000 pilgrims in an hour, is scheduled to complete in three phases in three years.
“All Turks in Turkey feel grateful to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for undertaking huge projects in Makkah, holy sites and Madinah with the aim of serving Islam and Muslims better,” President of the Turkish Religious Affairs and Head of the Turkish Haj Delegation Prof. Muhammad Komas, said in meeting with Haj officials in Jeddah recently.
Komas also lauded the strong historic relations between his country and the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.
“The close ties of relationship between the two countries is in its best now thanks to the wise policies of the two governments and which are fortified with mutual visits of the leaders of the two countries,” Komas said during his meeting with the Kingdom’s Haj officials in Jeddah.
Komas discussed with Haj Minister Bandar bin Muhammad Hajjar the arrangements for the Haj pilgrims this year.
He also commended the stance taken by the Kingdom in regional and international issues. He also appreciated the efforts initiated by King Abdullah to achieve creative coexistence between civilizations in the world.
He also expressed his satisfaction at the constructive cooperation between the Kingdom and Turkey in areas of diplomacy, economy, culture and religion.
He said the Arab and Islamic worlds are watching the close relations between the Kingdom and his country with admiration.
“The coming days will witness the emergence of new spheres of brotherly relations between the two countries to serve the interests of the region and the people in a better manner,” he said.
He said 300,000 Umrah pilgrims from Turkey have already arrived in the Kingdom and 500,000 more are expected to come during Ramadan.
