JEDDAH: A Saudi-Chinese youth dialogue to take place in Beijing at the end of this month will compare the Kingdom’s achievements in medical research and clinical applications with the Chinese accomplishments in the same area.
This was revealed at a workshop organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC) at the hospital headquarters in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.
The Saudi-Chinese youth dialogue on Sept. 20-28 is the seventh of the international youth dialogues organized by the ministry as part of the implementation of the initiative of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to promote dialogue between various faiths, cultures and civilizations.
It also aims to promote youth relations between Saudi Arabia and the nations around the world.
While opening the workshop, the director of the hospital’s research center Sultan Al-Sudairy assured the hospital’s total cooperation to make the dialogue a success.
In his address Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Cultural Affairs Yousef Terad Al-Saadon stressed the significance of the dialogues in promoting world peace in addition to creating a brilliant image and securing a prominent international position for the Kingdom.
The speakers at the workshop stressed that the Saudi youth delegation should have a comprehensive idea of the national plan for medical research in the Kingdom in general and the achievements of the KFSHRC in the field of medical research in particular.
At the end of the workshop there was a group discussion on the various events that would be presented during the dialogue. The delegation which will participate in the Chinese event also had a discussion with Chinese Ambassador Li Chengwen focusing on the culture, society and economy in China.
The previous international dialogues were held in Brazil, Germany, India and Korea apart from two sessions in China.
The youth dialogues sought to be a means of breaking the barriers of distance and creating a better understanding among the youth. The first round of Saudi–Chinese youth dialogue was held in Shanghai in September 2010.
The Saudi Korea Youth Forum held in Seoul in June focused on the knowledge-based economy, smart cities, broadband and e-education.
