Commerce and Industry Minister Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah yesterday urged Saudi businessmen and industrialists to make use of investment opportunities in Turkmenistan.
“There are good prospects for Saudis to invest in Turkmenistan’s construction sector. They can also supply the country’s requirements for building materials,” he said.
Speaking to reporters in Ashgabat, he said investment in the Kingdom’s petrochemical sector had exceeded $ 120 billion. “This has made Saudi Arabia a leader in petrochemical industry,” he pointed out.
The Saudi industrial sector achieved a growth rate in 2012 double the growth rate of Saudi economy, the minister said.
Turkmen Minister of Industry Babaniyaz Italmazov said his country was seeking Saudi investment in various sectors such as textiles, building materials, energy, petrochemicals, food industry and animal resources.
Abdullah Al-Mubti, president of the Council of Saudi Chambers, said the Saudi delegation that attended the joint commission meeting included senior executives of major Saudi companies.
He said the delegation included representatives of 17 companies specialized in industry, service, finance and investment with long experience inside and outside the Kingdom.
