Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah received Saturday morning a high-level trade fair delegation, which will represent Saudi Arabia at the international trade fair in Hanover, Germany, on April 8-12.
“We submitted a proposal for a Saudi booth in the world’s biggest industrial trade fair and the minister expressed support for and interest in it,” said Oliver Frese, senior vice president at the Hanover Trade Fair 2013.
He said the Saudi booth would be set up in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON).
“For the first time, Saudi Arabia will have its own pavilion of 136 square meters at the fair and I have received positive feedback from local firms about it. I am delighted to see such a huge interest of Saudi companies to visit the fair,” he said.
He added: “The Saudi participation is part of a strategy to attract more foreign direct investments.”
The participation of companies like MODON, Petro Rabigh, Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) and Tasnee shows the interest of Saudi Arabia to collaborate with German firms, said
Frese.
In his meeting with Al-Rabiah, Frese was in the company of Majdi A. Al-Sahhaf, adviser to the Saudi commerce and industry minister, and Andreas Hergenroether, delegate to the German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
“The trade fair is the biggest of its kind and it is the most important. We would like to take advantage of the opportunity to see what’s new in the industrial field,” said S. Saleem, president and CEO of Powerex, which operates in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Ghulam Shuja, operations manager of the Dammam-based MGA Trading Est., said: “Participation in the world’s biggest industrial trade fair will be a fillip to my company. We’ll be there for sure and be updated on the latest in industrial technology,” he said.
Mohammad Sayeed, Ducab sales manager, added: “Frese’s presentation was very persuasive. My company should not pass up the opportunity to keep up with technology and competition,” he said.
More than 6,000 exhibitors from 60 different countries participate in the Hanover Industrial Fair annually, presenting their ideas and innovations. Russia will be the partner country of the industrial fair next year.
