Many Saudi and international Twitter users have shared their thoughts on the social media site through #Asifat Al-Hazm, ‘Decisive Storm’ in Arabic.
This operation is led by Saudi Arabia and aims to deter Houthis, who have rebelled in Yemen and taken over the capital, Sanaa. Some journalists said the Iranian media has gone into a state of hysteria during the past few days after the surprise Saudi attack.
#Asifat Al-Hazm ranked first in the Arab world and second globally with 1.5 million tweets that discussed Yemen and the war on Houthis, with most of the tweets supporting the military operation.
The majority of participants in this Hashtag are Saudis who announced their full support for King Salman, saying this is an important step for the benefit of Yemen and neighboring countries.
A number of twitter users confirmed that they have a common destiny even if the policies are different and stated that unity incites the anger and envy of the Kingdom’s enemies.
The editor in chief of Qatar-based Al-Sharq newspaper said Gulf people are proud of their leaderships and this military campaign has brought back the role of the Gulf in the area.
Kuwaiti Parliament’s former member, Nasir Al-Dweila, said the Gulf war combined Gulf states together under Saudi leadership against Ali Abdullah Saleh, who decided to sell Yemen.
