Security presence boosted: Prince Ahmad

Deputy Interior Minister Prince Ahmad said efforts are being exerted to intensify the security presence throughout the country.
The prince was speaking after a graduation ceremony at the Higher Institute for Security Studies at King Fahd Security College in Riyadh on Tuesday.
"The number of thefts and other incidents is escalating with the increase in population. What was the case 10 years ago is not the case now and efforts are being made to cover all places with an adequate security presence.”
He did not disclose any information on Saudi diplomat Abdullah Al-Khaldi, who was kidnapped in Yemen. He did say, however, that he would be returned to the Kingdom safely.
On the Kingdom’s position regarding the blast in Yemen, he said the attack was not Islamic but inhuman and hurts innocent lives. He said those responsible could not be considered Muslim.
He reiterated security men were prepared to tackle crime and its perpetrators.
The prince said graduates of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences would be given the chance to advise government departments.
Assessing the security situation in Awwamiya, he said: “There is nothing new to report in this part of the country. God willing, we hope that things will work out for the better. There is no justification for any attacks on national security, and security forces maintain a normal presence there like any other place.”
With regard to a review of the terms for enrollment in military service, he said this was still ongoing. “These measures are to ensure candidates are suitable. There is no doubt the vast majority of Saudi citizens are not tall enough, and we have to take this into account.”
