Ship blaze scare at Jeddah port

Two sailors were injured when a Liberian ship carrying 55,778 tons of barley caught fire at the Jeddah Islamic Port yesterday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
“Firefighting units at the port succeeded in extinguishing the fire that broke out at 2 p.m.,” the agency said, adding that the fire did not cause any major damage either to the port or the goods inside the ship.
The fire started at the ship's engine room. The injured sailors have been taken to hospital for treatment, SPA said.
In March 2012, another Liberian ship, carrying petroleum products, caught fire at Jubail Industrial Port.
