Border patrol in the southern province of Jazan has successfully prevented a number of attempts to smuggle drugs and weapons into the Kingdom during the first half of this year, Col. Abdullah Binmahfouz, spokesman of the border guards in Jazan, said.
“Materials seized from smugglers included 53 pieces of narcotic tablets, 109,797 kilograms of qat, 844 kilograms of hashish, six magazines of ammunition and three guns,” he said. The border guards also arrested 8,062 intruders, 209 smugglers, 109 mobile phones, SR 63,399 in cash, 20,920 Yemeni riyals, 45 cell phone chips and 6,165 kilograms worth of fireworks.
