S.D. Moorthy, consul of community welfare at the Indian Consulate General in Jeddah, was honored by the Senthamil Nalamandram (SNM), a leading Tamil organization focusing on the interests of Indian Tamils in the Gulf.
Moorthy is leaving the Kingdom after completing his diplomatic service at the Jeddah consulate. He will take on a new role in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, home to Sri Lankan Tamils.
A reception in his honor was held at the Chennai Darbar Hotel.
SNM President Gopal Veda spoke about Moorthy’s numerous achievements during his tenure here. SNM executive committee members shared stories of how he helped fellow Indians in distress, regardless of caste, creed and language.
Special guests Muthappan, Ravindran and Ramnarayan praised his willingness to help, his fierce determination and steadfast perseverance. These qualities endeared him not only to Tamils, but to all Indians.
Moorthy, while accepting the honor, urged community members to help those in need and asked them to support the Indian Consulate as it continues to expand its welfare activities.
