JEDDAH: An inspired Al-Ahli squad hammered out an easy 4-1 victory over Al-Nasr in the final match last night to win back-to-back King’s Cup titles at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium here.
Ahli dominated the match from the get-go punctuating its game with slick passing that had the enemy gasping in its wake.
Omani striker Emad Al-Hosani opened the account for Ahli by slamming home a deflected ball by the Nasr goalie Abdullah Al-Enizi in the 35th minute.
Abdurahman Jazawi had a brace for Ahli, while Kamel Al-Mousa added a goal of his own after collecting a nifty pass form Victor near the goal mouth.
Nasr escaped the ignominy of a shutout defeat when Richie scored in the 83rd minute.
Right in the first minute Al-Nasr started attacking and threatened Al-Ahli's goal before the two teams exchanged attacks for a few minutes.
Ahli then attacked and pressed its rival until the 12th minute, during which Al-Nasr depended on counter attacks through right and lift attacking midfielders Muhammad Al-Zailae and Alhaj Bogash.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah arrived in the 38th minute of the first half. He then awarded the cup to the winners during the prize distribution ceremony after the match.
The first half in general was full of ineffective attacks except for an Al-Nasr's attacker's Saud Humoud shot from just outside the penalty area that hit an Ahli defender and went way above the goal. The two teams seemed too cautious that resulted in 45 minutes of wrong passes.
Ahli's first goal was the result of a fatal mistake by Al-Nasr defender Omar Hawsawi who seemed to have thought that his fellow defender was covering the small area behind him and allowed Ahli's fast and skilled attacker Jizawi to pass him easily and pass to Al-Hossani who booted in the deflected ball by Nasr’s goalkeeper.
Jizawi scored the second goal for Ahli through a shot on the ground to the right of the goalkeeper Al-Enizi after receiving a smart pass from Ahli's Brazilian midfielder Marcelo Camacho at the first minute of the second half.
