D’Pirates clinch Hala Mobily-IBG Friday League title

D’Pirates lost the game against Air21 team during the finals but still emerged as the champion in the recent IBG Friday Afternoon Bowling League 2nd Conference held at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
The league was sponsored by Hala Int’l Mabuhay Mobily in partnership with Globe and organized by the Itqan Tenpin Bowlers (IBG) Advocates.
The final match between D’Pirates and arch-rival Air21 resulted in 20-17 in favor of the Air21 squad. D’Pirates took the crown by virtue of having the better accumulated total points of 639 to 610 by the Air21. Air21 took second place.
Shawn Rickett led Air21 by posting 860 points followed by Ruel Toledo (834), Thong Asuncion (823), Leo Mabunga (804) and team captain Jerry Austria (785).
Celis Viloria and Bembol Velasco, winner of the UFTBR 2013 Worldwide Balikbayan tourney held in Manila, top-scored for D’Pirates quintet. Viloria and Velasco had separate series of 837 and 816. Fareed Aquino and Dennis Gabriel came in next to Viloria and Velasco on 796 and 728 while the duo of Rodel Molina and Erwin Nacario contributed separate series of 427 and 403.
On Lanes 7 and 8, Itqan Tenpin Wizards defeated the NBA 23-16, but their win was only good for fourth place because the NBA team is ahead in the total accumulative points 588 – 572. NBA mentored by Nelson de Vera took third place. At the forefront of Itqan Tenpin Wizards managed by Ric Singson was the combination of Doy del Moral (842) and Ronald Cruz (840). Next to them are Singson (798) and Reynald Medina (772). Arnold Jesena and Nap Torres contributed 417 and 404.
Southpaw Ronald Bautista shone ast NBA by posting a four-game series scratch of 868. Joel Batolina knocked down 821 points. Bandar Al-Marshad and De Vera chipped in 797 and 761 while Joe Garrido and Mike Ecalnir sealed 414 and 403.
Final standings of other teams: 5th – Itqan Tornado, 6th – Great Balls of Fire, 7th –Salyng Kits, 8th – Roll and Bowl, 9th – Pinbusters, 10th – SACO, 11th – Xperts, 12th – Magnificent-5, 13th – SABB Strikers and 14th – Bankrun.

Battle of Elite Players: Champion Thong Asuncion,1st runner-up Leo Mabunga and 2nd runner-up Ronald Bautista. During the Battle of Elite, Leo Mabunga rolled a perfect 300 in the first game of action. Mabunga was given a special recognition for his feat.
Cash prizes, elegant trophies and attractive items were awarded to the winners during the awarding ceremony last Friday at the Universal Bowling Center.
