2nd Annual Lufthansa Open Golf Tournament tees off tomorrow

RIYADH: Golf enthusiasts in the city couldn’t seem to have enough of their favorite sport as they again tee it up for the third straight weekend on Friday for the 2nd Annual Lufthansa Open Golf Tournament 2015 at Dirab Golf & Country Club.
The shotgun start is 8 a.m. After last week’s 10th SABB Open stroke play event, the format is back to two ball Texas Scramble with handicap with prizes scaled down to the fifth place.
The 18-hole competition has attracted a full field of 120 players, who each will receive a goody bag that contains GNM golf shirt, cap, sleeve of Titleist ProV1 balls and glove.
After Tuesday’s rain washed the fairways and greens the course is in good shape and the speed of the greens measured at 10.5 on the stimpmeter.
The club would like to thank Harald Hahn, director Saudi Arabia, Bahrain & Yemen at Lufthansa German Airlines, for his generous sponsorship of the tournament that began last year.
Dirab also announced Wednesday a Tunisian PGA Golf Professional, Salem Ayari, has joined the club with a view to help members improve their game. The addition of the experienced Ayari to the DGCC staff fills a void that will benefit the golfing community as a whole.
