ICD, KAUST lead semifinal cast in ICD 3rd Annual Football Tournament

JEDDAH: The stage is set for the semifinals with host team ICD (Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector) and KAUST (King Abdullah University Science and Technology) qualifying top of Group A and Group B respectively in the ICD 3rd Annual Football Tournament at Greenlawns ground on Kilo 5 near Jeddah.
Anfaal Capital and Ewaan (Ewaan Global Residential Company) complete the final four cast having qualified as the second from Group A and Group B.
ICD and KAUST both finished group stage play on 9 points from three wins against no defeat. Anfaal and Ewaan had matching 6 points from two wins and one loss.
On its way to the semis, ICD defeated ICIEC (Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit) 7-1 on opening day April 14 before taking down Islamic Relief 9-2 and Anfaal Capital 4-2 last Wednesday.
KAUST’s victories were against IRTI (Islamic Research and Training Institute) 7-0, Ewaan 4-0 and IDB (Islamic Development Bank) on the final day of eliminations on Thursday.
For Anfaal its wins came against Islamic Relief 6-2 on the first day of the competition and against ICIEC 7-3 while Ewaan defeated IDB 5-3 and IRTI 7-4.
The semifinals will be played next Wednesday with the winners to face off in a final match on May 1.
The first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. pits ICD against Ewaan and the second semifinal at 7 p.m. features KAUST and Anfaal Capital.
The tournament takes a break of four days before the semifinal matches and three days before the final.
