The much awaited basketball event in the Central Region dubbed the 1st Mobily & Globe Regional Basketball Showdown 2012 will take place Aug. 23 and 24 (Thursday and Friday) at the RKH Skydome Basketball Court here.
According to Event Manager Rannie Basanta, this two-day basketball exhibition attracted strong teams from the Eastern Province and Jeddah in addition to 2 teams from Riyadh.
Commissioner Lito Villanueva said an Inter-Muslim tournament from selected all star teams namely Maranao, Maguindanaon, Kalagan and Tausog will also participate as special added attraction. Basanta confirmed that a welcome reception at 3 p.m. Thursday will take place upon arrival of delegations from the two regions and the host teams at the Tala Hotel near Riyadh Military Hospital.
Labor Attaché and head of POLO-OWWA Albert Q. Valenciano has been invited to grace this occasion.
Jawo Dizon will do the live commentary during the games with Cesar Morales as emcee during the opening ceremony.
Mobily-Globe is the major sponsor of this event while Crème 21 and Al Yusur Installment Co. support the event as minor sponsors. Door prizes from the sponsors are to be raffled off for spectators.
