True to form and as the hallmark of all Ultimate Badminton Challenge events, Thursday’s opening ceremony of the Super Challenge 2012 once again rocked the venue with the parade of club teams in colorful uniforms and with beautiful muses.
The participating clubs are from Jeddah, Riyadh and Abha. Guest performers were the graceful dancers composed of students from “The Studio” and the Zephyr Band led by Smash Arabian Ruel Imperial.
Gracing the event as judges for the Best in Uniform, Best Muse and the Avon Beauty Award were Gigi Divina, a well known ballet instructor of “The Studio,” Rex Lim of Touch By Flim and Ralph Anthony Ercilla of Pinoy Tambayan Photographers Group.
Culminating the ceremony was the announcement of the Best in Uniform won by the Fleeq Badminton Club represented by Sam Sampayan, who received a trophy and cash prize. The prestigious Best Muse award was won by Anne Rose Ortiz of Trippers Flick winning a trophy and a beauty package from Avon. A special beauty package was also given to the lucky audience, Ann Chiu, also of Trippers Flick, for winning the Avon Beauty Award. Plaques of appreciation were given to the major sponsor Pepsi (SIPCO) received by Vic Arejola, Avon received by Joseff Santiago and Srilankan Airlines received by Rasika Perrera.
Ultimate Badminton Challenge series is the biggest regional badminton event in Jeddah with participating teams from all over the Kingdom. It is sponsored by Pepsi (SIPCO), represented by Ahmed Al Mehelmy, executive director for Sales and Marketing of the company. Minor sponsors are Avon, Srilankan Airlines, Jollibee, Kustom Arts (Leo Fajardo), Inihaw Kamayan Grill House (Rhic Briones), Shatira Restaurant (Romy Sumayao) and Friends of Smash Arabia.
Organizing this event, the fourth in a series at the Olympia courts, is the Smash Arabia Badminton Club headed by its chairman Alan Leonardo Exevea. Helping Exevea run the show are Tournament Director Romy Capili, Technical Directors Roland Santos and Aldrin Medina, PRO Bob Fernandez, Accountant Candy Exevea, Treasurer Abby Asiatico, Lights & Sounds Eko Yingyom and the Program Head Joseff Santiago. Venue Design is under the creative hands of “Touch By Flim ” of Rex Lim.
