Veteran Bernie Torres flashed his deadly form to lift SABB-SAMA to a Best Bowler of the Week and Best Team of the Week double during the 6th session in the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.
Torres shot a series of 857 pinfalls to emerge as the best individual performer while powering SABB-SAMA to 340 points as the bye team in action of the week. Clem Guelas, captain Teody Zulaybar, Jun Bolocboloc and Jun Macarandan supported Torres with rounds of 578, 554, 549 in that order while David Smart had 349 in two games. Remy Generales and Dawood Serano had 163 and 149.
In an exciting match, PNB Unified defeated handicap-rich BSF-CBG 340-110 behind the terrific performances of Sonny Alviso (795), Edwin Nunez (764) and Mixi Lechuga (722). Ronald Cruz, Tenz Taeza, James Frizzle and Edwin Carlo Gaspar sealed 398, 378, 328 and 303 in three games.
Leading scorers at BSF/CBG was the quartet of Art Bumatay, captain Ken Hechanova, Abet Minosa and Alfred Estrada who rolled 751, 718, 681 and 681. Guilbert Mesias tossed in 323 while Ricky Dominguez and Dennis Buot added 194 and 151.
In a grueling match of former champions, SHB upset SABB advance 320-210. Showing the way for SHB was straight- bowler Gil Hembra who fired a series of 807. Gerry Ayonon and Clem Salazar poured 725 and 709 while Cholo Nieto and Arnel Bernabe carded a three-game series of 553 and 540. Rodel Yap had 380 in two games.
In other matches, Alinma Tefa’al thrashed BSF (150-50) while the game of SAIB and Alinma Aspire ended in a 2-2 draw.
During the seventh week, SABB Advance almost blanked SAIB 377-90 to take home the Team of the Week honors.
The quartet of Gerry Austrian, Fahad Al-Heza, Jaffer Al-Khatiri and Sam Alinsod lifted their team to victory with four-game series of 772, 771, 756 and 739. Arnold Jesena and Ahmed Al-Qarquosh contributed 409 and 354.
SAIB’s top gunner Agie Dazo outplayed everyone with his brilliant performance carding a four-game series of 806 pinfalls that gave him the Best Bowler of the Week title.
League leader PNB Unified and handicap-rich Alinma Aspire battled to a 2-2 draw. However, it was PNB Unified that earned extra 80 bonus points to win the match. The trio of Carlo Gaspar, Ronald Cruz and Tenz Taeza struck hardest with scratch games 224, 185 and 176 during the third canto.
BSF-CBG captained by Ken Hechanova outperformed Alinma Tefa’al of Bobby Ting 290-80. the duo of Alfred Estrada and Abet Minosa inspired their teammates with 770 and 718. In the opposing team, the pair of Koko Torres and Vic Agregado rolled the highest series of 766 and 712.
SABB-SAMA continued its winning streak by defeating BSF of Jun Bantug 150-50 while Saudi Hollandi Bank playing as bye team posted 290 win points to seal the third spot in the leaderboard.
