Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal announced yesterday that development projects worth nearly SR 3 billion have been implemented or are being executed in the two regions of Turba and Khorma. On Sunday the governor concluded his inspection tours of Taif, Khorma, Turba and Ranyah. He told journalists that the development projects in Turba cost SR 1.35 billion and those in Khorma cost SR 1.576 billion.
Since he became governor of Makkah about five years ago, Prince Khaled has made it a point to make annual tours of all regions of the province. “Allow me to express to every Saudi citizen my happiness over the tour, which enabled me to hold talks with the citizens and officials of government departments and local councils,” he said.
The governor said he had noted an immense improvement in the level of services, adding that the level of discussions that ensued during the meetings impressed him. “The regions are now speaking with confidence and hope, there is no longer frustration or despair. They are optimistic and determined to go ahead. We should all join hands for the development of our country,” he said.
Prince Khaled believes the opening of universities in the region is a great leap forward. “With more and more students graduating from universities, these regions will have a promising future,” he said.
Asked about his expectations, the governor replied: “We want to continue at this level of accomplishment. With determination we will assume a leadership position.”
Replying to a question about tourism projects in Khorma, Prince Khaled said the local council presented a number of ideas in this respect, which would be studied. “We support all developmental ideas, and the residents of each region should take the initiative to present their ideas. They should not wait for others to come to them, but should reveal their needs and requirements,” he said.
