JEDDAH: Najran Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah yesterday emphasized the need to conduct more studies on antiquities and heritage sites in the region.
“The Saudi leadership gives utmost importance to culture and heritage,” the governor said.
Speaking to a Saudi-French scientific team that visited him at his office, he underscored the efforts of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities to preserve and develop historical sites.
“The Najran region is rich with a number of heritage sites of historical importance,” Prince Mishaal said.
Saleh Al-Mureeh, director of SCTA in Najran, said a number of studies have been conducted on Arabic engravings in Dharwa, Markab, Zaafaran, Kaukab and Hama.
The scientific team thanked the governor for his support to their activities.
Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah, meanwhile, met with Saleh Al-Munis, director of health and other health officials and emphasized the need for establishing more hospitals and health centers in the region to improve services.
“Efforts are underway to establish a new hospital in west Najran and expand Sharourah General Hospital increasing number of beds at the hospital to 300,” the governor said.
