A total of more than 300 players and guests gathered at Iceland Bowling Center for the much-awaited 6th King Abdulaziz Medical City Bowling Friendship Games.
The event has been an avenue of KAMC employees and other various community groups in Jeddah to bond together and compete in a friendly bowling competition.
Chief guest was Uriel Norman Garibay of the Philippine Consulate General who made the ceremonial roll of the ball to the rousing applause of the participants.
Special awards and prizes were handed out prior to the start of the games. Unbowlievable Secretaries (In-house) and OFWCC (Guest) took home the Best Uniform award. Photographer’s Pond Group (Guest) copped the Most Organized Team while PHC Bahra Team grabbed the Best Mascot award. Unbowlievable Secretaries’ Romelyn Alturas-Ramos (In-house) and The X-Factor Bowlers’ Deborah Umayam (Guest) eclipsed the competition for the Best Muse title.
In the 26-team In-House category, U&M Elite won this year’s championship trophy by rolling total pinfalls of 2,343.4. PHC Bahra Bowlers came in second, narrowly prevailing over last year’s champion Pharmacy-1 in a neck-and-neck battle for the spot with 2,333.2 against the latter’s 2,330 points. Pharmacy-2 checked in at fourth place with 2,318.3 points followed by Laboratory-1 with 2,310.1 points. Rounding out the 5th to 10th spots were Renal Team (2309.6), Firepower (2,300), U&M 2 HVAC Strikers (2,298.5), Scalpelove-1 (2,287.2) and Laboratory-2 (2,286.4).
Zuhair Fayez Partnership replicated its dominating performance last year by stamping its class once again in the 21-team Guest category.
ZFP’s two teams delivered scintillating performances for an impressive 1-2 finish. Previous year’s runner-up, Zuhair Fayez-1, bannered by Leo Perez, Salic Mudag, Johnny Diores and Boy Alarcon, rolled an aggregate score of 2,171.8 points to rule the field and dethrone defending champion and sister-team Zuhair Fayez-2. The last year’s winner settled for second this time with 2,076.8 points. The X-Factor Bowlers also placed second, carding a similar score with Zuhair Fayez-2 but was relegated to the third spot after a tiebreak.
Down two notches from last year was AFPTA which booked the fourth spot with a total of 2,075.2 points. Wrapping up the top 10 finishers were PSME-WRSA Prime Movers (2,062.2), ASTEC-1 (2,052.4), Tropang Gising-1 (2,043.6), Radission Blu/KABALIKAT (2,035.6), KFSCH&RC-1 (2,030.8) and Finetools S.A. Fineboyz (2,030.8).
For individual honors, AFPTA’s Michael Protacio (Guest) and U&M Elite’s James Paulme (In-house) led all male scorers by knocking down 200 and 191 respectively to claim the highest scratch score award. Claiming the same honors in the distaff side were Pharmacy-1’s Olive Escondo (In-house) 198 and KFSCH&RC-2’s Alet Barnard with 135.
Sahar Khan from KFSHRC won the raffle draw grand prize of 32-inch LCD TV courtesy of major sponsor Al Sasyah Basic Electronic Ltd. Co., distributor of Sanyo products, headed by Abdulrahman Al Arfaj, overall manager; Turki Al Arfaj, regional manager for Southern and Western Region; and Khalid Al Tantawi, sales supervisor.

The activity in charge Efren Barros and event organizer Al Bacleon thanked Brig. Gen. Khalid Bakulka, executive director for Operations, KAMC Western Region, and Mohammed Al Aamry, director of KAMC Employee Social Club, for their unrelenting support for the event.
With the organizing committee were Eli German, Technical Tournament commissioner; Ahmad Luangco, deputy commissioner; Alex Canon and Beverly Natividad, tournament coordinators. Ria Alimon, Babes Bautista, Daisy Ringpis, Wilma Famorcan and Jackylyn Alturas made up the tournament secretariat while Rodel Pua, Jomar Gonzalez, Rico Celestial, Andy Kong and Roberto Gamboa were the lane coordinators. Resty Imperial, Alvin Reyes, Charisse Beneyaran, Adrew Lacsamana were the tabulators and Arnel Barrameda technical adviser.
Hosted by Alex Savellano and May Barrientos, the event was aimed at strengthening the ties and foster camaraderie among staff not only in KAMC but also those from outside as well.
