This is in response to the front-page story “34% of expats want to leave.” I was born in the Kingdom and living happily with my parents who have been here for more than 30 years. God bless Saudi Arabia and Saudis.
This is not an expatriate versus Saudi fight and should not be made to look like one. Saudi Arabia by the Grace of the Almighty still has a lot of job opportunities for locals and expats alike. (Any Saudi who is willing to work can easily find a job).
No country is perfect and so is the case with the Kingdom.
Removing expats is not the solution as the labor minister earlier pointed out that 86 percent of the jobs done by expatriates cannot be done by Saudis. There has to be a better plan to deal with the unemployment among Saudi youths like sending illegals back, removing sponsorship system, granting permanent residency based on criteria like educational qualification, number of years stayed in the Kingdom etc.
I love Saudi Arabia and want to see it grow to become one of the superpowers in the world. — A reader, By e-mail
