The women's branch of the Blind Association Charity in Riyadh Region (Kafeef) held the first art exhibition for the blind women at the charity's headquarters in Riyadh. Under the title "Whispering Fingers", the exhibition was held with the support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Saleh bin Sultan Award for Scientific Excellence and Creativity in Special Education.
The exhibition included the work of 20 blind women. The exhibits showcase various artifacts including accessories, glass paintings and art models.
"The award is particularly intended for individuals with disabilities and on a wider scale all community groups," said Hessa bint Abdullah Al Sheikh, Secretary General of the award.
She pointed out that the award is working through its first program, the scientific award, towards achieving multiple goals with talented and creative people with disabilities as well as enhancing their positive participation in society.
"The award also contributes to encouraging and supporting private and public entities and individuals on providing the welfare services for the disabled." said Al Sheikh
She expressed the pleasure of the award supervisors for their role in supporting the Blind Association Charity, wishing them all the luck and success in the future.
The director of the women’s branch of Kafeef, Siham Al-Shadadi commended the ongoing support of those in charge of the award for the charity's activities and courses to promote the creativity of the visually impaired women in the field of art.
During the inauguration ceremony the women delivered speeches in which they expressed thanks for the support of the award supervisors, which contributes in improving their talents
At the end of the ceremony, the participants were honored, and then the secretary general of the award, Hessa Al Sheikh cut the tape marking the opening of the exhibition.
